On Oct. 3, Centennial Park students engaged in a scavenger hunt around downtown Portland. It was a beautiful, fall day as students visited sites like the Central Library, Powell’s books, the Mexican Consulate, and Voodoo Donuts. Students examined statues, street signs , and buildings to answer clues and take pictures of their group at the site.
It was an exercise in teamwork, and cooperation, as well as practice in personal responsibility and trust. Using a walking map of downtown Portland, students needed to navigate to a predetermined location to check in during the activity, and to make it to the bus pick-up point on time at the end of the day,. Largely unsupervised, groups were expected to answer the clues as well as be respectful ambassadors of our school.
A fun time was had by all, while working on individual personal skills.
