As the school year comes to a close, there was a reason to celebrate. Centennial Park has had several fun activities happening.
First, in early May, our school participated in a Teaching Tolerance project. #wearecommunity connected CPS to various members of the community. #wearecommunity mission is to help students discover passions that connect them to school, and develop social and academic skills that encourage them to positively participate in the wider community. To be a responsible member of a community I have to understand the resources and needs of all the members of my community and how they build community. Big themes for the project include Community, Diversity, Interdependence, Change over time, Fairness/Equity, Ability to make a DIfference, and Long term effects. Thank you to the following community partners that made this project a success, Raphael House, El Programa de Hispano, Latino Network, Hussein Al-Baiaty from the Printory, Paul Coakley- District Superintendent to discuss his shoe collection, SMYRC, APANO, EastSide Timbers, SnowCap, Rosewood Initiative, Rosewood rising, Aladdin Theater, Guide Dogs for the blind, METRO, School Based Health Center, Animal Control.
Second, On May 18th, 2018, Centennial Park School held its 5th Annual Prom. The Centennial Park School Prom Committee worked hard to fundraise in order to make this year’s prom the best yet! The theme was CandyLand and it was a night to remember. Prom was held at our favorite location, Cedarville Lodge. A big thank you to Stumptown Booth for the amazing photo booth, all of the wonderful hair and make-up artists who made the young people look fabulous, Scott Ripley for giving us beautiful candid and official prom style pictures, DJ Quaz for throwing down the 1’s and 2’s, Cedarville Lodge for hosting us again year, the various staff who came to chaperone, and everyone who donated in order to make our prom so amazing. The night would not have been the same without your support!
Lastly, to close out the school year, our school is going on an end of year all school field trip to Blue Lake on June 12, 2018.
